Our aims |
|
|
|
We want to offer as many innings
as possible for a low entry fee to all interested players |
|
|
|
The problem of many international tournaments is based on the fact,
that you have to pay at least 200 DM entry fee and that very often you
have to play in the KO mode. For all second or third level players this
isn't very attractive, the number of participants is a proof for that.
Our mode of tournament takes care of these problems, by using different
entry fees it is made sure, that players without a chance of receiving
prize money don't have to pay a big entry fee. By using the group mode
for the qualification you have to play at least 2 matches (3 in the
tournaments up to now), in the group you have at least one very good
player, on the other hand you always have a chance to win a match. |

We want to make some public
relations for our sport in Northern Germany |
|
|
|
Unfortunately there is only a very small number of billiardplayers
in the NBV (Northern German Billard Confederation). We didn't lose our
hope, to reach new members for our clubs with an event like the Kiel
Open. In fact every spectator is fascinated by our sport on a tournament
like this one. |
|
|
We would like to build up new
contacts |
|
|
|
We would like to build up new contacts Especially in a
confederation like the NBV it is very boring to meet the same players
every weekend. For this reason we want to offer the opportunity to match
new opponents at least once in a year to all our 3-cushion-players. We
are also very glad, when this tournament helps to start new contacts
like our visit in Hattem / NL this year. The number of participants from
foreign countries in the last two years have been a big and positive
surprise to all of us, we hope, that we can continue in this way. |

History |
|
|
The origin of the tournament as you know it
now were the Christmas-tournaments in Hamburg 1986 to 1992 (winner i.e.
Maximo Aguirre) organized by the Billard Club Harburg-Wandsbek (BCHW)
and the Easter-tournaments in Bremen 1989 to 1994 (winner i.e. Christian
Rudolph). After a break we started the first big tournament in
cooperation between BCHW and bg Hamburg with the Hamburg Open '98
(winner Frank Eversmann). In this tournament there was a big support by
the Billardverein Kiel which led to the Kiel Open, initialized by a team
based on the crews of BV Kiel and BCHW added by our main sponsor Keld
Sogaard. |
